Volunteers play an integral role at The Life Rooms and the service we offer is greatly enhanced by the support they give.  Some of our volunteers have lived experience of the service.

Our volunteers take on a range of roles from Meeting and Greeting to community support, helping organise events and promotions or working in the café.  You can also volunteer to help with our Research and Evaluation. All volunteering roles are shaped by the way our services develop and may change during the year.

Whenever or whatever you volunteer to do, everyone receives full support, advice and appropriate training.  If you would like to volunteer but are not sure what you would like to do, we are happy to help you find a fit that is right.

Here are just some examples of our volunteer roles:

  • Meet and Greet volunteer
  • Events / Promotion volunteer
  • Engagement and Experience volunteer
  • Café Volunteer
  • Community support volunteer
  • Innovation volunteer

To volunteer we ask you to be yourself, be enthusiastic and help us make a difference.  There are also a few things we need from you and all volunteers must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Register your details on our secure database
  • Complete a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service)
  • Complete an occupational health assessment
  • Attend mandatory training
  • Be committed and willing
  • Attend an informal interview if and when required

Next steps

If you would like to volunteer please register using the form further down this page.

You will be sent an Opportunity for Involvement Bulletin which lists current opportunities and outlines the skills, experience and commitment required. You will be invited to apply for any opportunity you wish.

Your initial meeting will be with someone from the Engagement and Experience team who will refer you to the lead manager of the chosen activity within The Life Rooms.

Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible have access to our volunteering opportunities so we will pay all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses like transport costs.
