It is more important than ever to take good care of ourselves and, with modern technology, it is easier than ever to take steps to manage our health and wellbeing. Our Digital Health Activation Service aims to reduce health inequalities across Liverpool by educating people and healthcare practitioners about simple, everyday digital tools that are available to support good health.
Our main areas of work are currently:
- Digital inclusion
- Improving digital skills across Liverpool
- Promoting digital health tools in primary and secondary care settings for better patient care
- Promoting new and innovative digital health tools such as websites and apps as and when they become available
We are currently offering online training sessions around these digital health tools so if you would like to arrange one, free of charge and at a time and date to suit you, please contact us at digital.health@merseycare.nhs.uk
Service User Feedback
“We are in our late 70's and would have never thought that we would be able to learn a new skill and gain a new hobby. As a result of us coming to the Basic IT sessions we were also involved in the free tablet scheme where we both received our own tablets that we now use everyday. We have learnt how to go online and download apps. We can’t believe how much we have learnt and gained in the time we have been coming - it has changed our lives.” Digital Health Activation Team service user feedback
Our weekly Basic IT sessions, delivered across Liverpool, support people to learn digital skills, such as:
- How to use a device (computer, phone, tablet)
- Staying safe online
- Managing your health online
- Getting online and using the internet
- Creating and using email
- Help with general IT enquiries and much more

About the Health and Care App Library
- The app library is free.
- Anyone who can access the site (if they have access to online/digital access).
- You can instantly download an app through the app stores or using a QR code.
- There is a range of health and care apps available to search from which could help you, or someone you support, to improve your/their health and wellbeing.
- Many apps are safe, effective and clinically approved, and the app library will support you to find one that is right for you.
- This app library has been built by a health and care provider (ICB/Cheshire and Merseyside, and ORCHA).
- The app review will tell you if when the app was developed with the input of an expert in the field of health and care professionals.
- It is advised to only use apps which are 65% or above in all areas – it is good practice to use the 65% rule, as the app should be safe, effective and clinically approved.
- By clicking on an app card or featured app, you can read more about its score details and review, learn more about its functions and see if it has in-app options.
The NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services. Download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet via the Google play or App store.
