Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has successfully been awarded the contract to deliver the Healthy Knowsley Service for adults and pregnant women, a service commissioned by Knowsley Council. The service will provide tailored support for residents looking to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, strengthening the offer of health and wellbeing support in Knowsley.

Healthy Knowsley Service, part of The Life Rooms family of services, will be offering a range of personalised pathways that support people to make small changes to their lifestyle that result in a big difference to their health and wellbeing, including:

  • Health coaching
  • Group-based weight management
  • A multi-component weight management programme combining dietary advice, physical activity and coaching
  • Slimming World on Referral
  • Health walks

Eligibility is based on BMI criteria, with additional pathways available for pregnant women based on pre-pregnancy BMI. People with more complex needs, or higher BMI levels, may be referred to specialist Tier 3 services for additional support.

Following a referral, clients will be contacted within 48 hours to discuss options for support. Referrals and self-referrals can be made by calling freephone 0800 0731 202, emailing mct-tr.healthyknowsley@nhs.net

Mersey Care's Director for Social Health and Community Inclusion, Michael Crilly, said: "I am absolutely delighted to see the launch of our newly configured Healthy Knowsley Service. The team are building upon many years of experience in delivering healthy weight outcomes for the people of Knowsley and as they move into this new phase of service delivery I know that they will continue to work with individuals and communities to achieve happier and healthier lives."

Healthy Knowsley Service will be working in partnership with City Health Care Partnership CIC, who have been commissioned to deliver the Healthy Futures Knowsley service for children, young people, and families, as well as the Oral Health Knowsley Service.

Healthy Futures Knowsley is open to children and young people aged 5–17 (up to 25 for those with SEND) who meet the eligibility criteria. Support will be delivered over 8–12 weeks and will focus on practical, long-term changes such as healthy eating, improving sleep, and increasing physical activity.

Programmes are tailored by age group, with a family-focused approach for younger children and more independent, young person-led sessions for older participants. You can make a referral to Healthy Futures Knowsley via their website, by emailing chcp.healthyfuturesknowsley@nhs.net or calling 0151 426 7462.

Oral Health Knowsley aims to improve oral health outcomes for residents of all ages, providing expert advice, training and support, such as oral health awareness sessions, supervised toothbrushing in early years settings, and more.

To access Oral Health Knowsley, Knowsley residents and partners can email chcp.oralhealthknowsley@nhs.net or call 0151 426 7462.
