The Life Rooms research into the impact of interoperability between clinical and social prescribing systems has been published in BMC Digital Health.

As the first NHS Trust to have interoperability between clinical electronic patient record (EPR) and non-clinical social prescribing (RiO and Elemental), Mersey Care and The Life Rooms have been able to demonstrate a positive impact on secondary mental health services, enabling clinicians to address service user’s social needs with greater confidence and efficiency, and improving mental wellbeing for service users.

Our Research Team's evaluation into interoperability captures the holistic benefits of this integrated approach to care:

  • 97.2% of clinicians surveyed reported increased confidence in addressing service user's social needs,
  • Clinicians surveyed reported a 70% reduction in time spent addressing social concerns during clinical appointments,
  • 92.6% of service users surveyed reported improvements in mental wellbeing following their referral to The Life Rooms.
