October's spotlight partner - Hugh Baird
Hugh Baird College is a College and University Centre and one of the largest providers of education and training in Merseyside. They deliver over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students.
The courses they offer cover an extensive range of provisions, including full time courses for 14-16 year olds, full time courses for school leavers, apprenticeships, A-levels, university levels courses and adult learning, with dedicated campuses and employment focused results. They have a purpose built University Centre and a multi-million pound Health Training Hub in Bootle and a dedicated Sixth Form Centre in Litherland.
They also have a specialist hotel school and flagship restaurant, industry focused hubs, including a salon, florist and and gym. All their facilities are enhanced with the personal support that they offer to every one of their students.
The Life Rooms Bootle is situated on St Winefride's Campus alongside the Hugh Baird's Health Training Hub where their health, social care, nursing, and mental health provision is delivered.
The Life Rooms Learning team and Pathways Advice Service can support the whole Hugh Baird community including students, staff, and relatives/carers of students. The first year of the partnership (2019/2020) provided a great opportunity for both organisations to build an effective working relationship and develop ways to collaborating.
Hugh Baird has a focused education team identifying a variety of courses and skills. To compliment the this The Life Rooms offer a mental wellbeing offer focusing on understanding mental health conditions and encourage positive wellbeing to better prepare students for the future.
Mental health and well being sessions at The Life Rooms
These sessions are for Hugh Baird groups to come and take part in a session delivered by the Life Rooms. Life Rooms offer a range of non-clinical enrichment based courses that aim to challenge stigma and promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Hugh Baird students are given the opportunity to take part in our mental health and wellbeing learning as part of Enrichment. This will give students aged 16 to 18 years old (or the 14 to 16 cohort) access to Life Rooms learning sessions.
