A joint Mersey Care and Everton in the Community programme to promote recovery by enhancing service users’ employability prospects is to start this autumn.
Staff who support service users in our mental health, addiction and learning disability services are welcome to attend along with their patients an open day at Goodison on Tuesday 12 September (1pm).
The afternoon will open with a presentation outlining the 12-week employability programme, called Employ New Tactics, followed by an opportunity to talk informally to employment advisors and peer-support workers from the club’s official charity.
Organisers say it is important that service users who are ready in their recovery to get back into employment are identified and appropriate referrals made. The open event will explain in more detail how the course runs over two-days a week (10am to 3pm), with sessions starting from 19 September to be held at both Goodison and Life Rooms Walton.
In addition to learning practical skills such as CV writing, completing job application forms, interview techniques, job searches, and more, the course is aimed at building confidence, self-esteem and motivation. Other added value includes working with Everton and its partners, a free stadium tour of Goodison, plus free lunches and travel costs.
To book a place at the open day, contact the Everton 4 Employment team as follows:
